Death Notice

In Loving Memory of Ada Sestili
10 March 1943 – 26 November 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Ada Sestili on 26 November 2024 in Adelaide, Australia, at the age of 81. Born in Ceppaloni Provincia di Benevento, Italy, Ada brought light and warmth to the lives of all who knew her.

Beloved wife of the late Vincenzo Sestili, devoted mother to Maria, Tiziana, and Caterina, and cherished Nonna to her grandson Eric Ford Sestili. She was a loving sister to Maria Barone, Margherita Barone, Cesira Di Pardo, and Dora Barone. Her siblings Felicida Barone, Egidio Barone, Erminio Barone, and Elena Barone predeceased her. Ada was a cherished auntie to the Barone lineage spanning the Campania region and to the Sestili lineage spanning the Marche regions in Italy, and to family across Australia.

Ada’s life was marked by compassion and purpose and an abiding belief in uplifting those around her through humour, service or generosity. As the founder of Direct Care Australia, she was a pioneer advocating for expanding community support for the aged care and disability services sector in South Australia, shaping a company that continues to touch countless lives now across South Australia and Queensland. Her tireless work ethic, vision, dedication, and generosity were boundless, leaving an enduring legacy of kindness and support for those in need.

Ada loved life and people. She loved to laugh, enjoy the simple things whilst pursuing grand dreams, and sometimes, even often, pull them off despite the odds.

Known for her larger-than-life personality and boundless generosity, she was passionate about supporting causes close to her heart. Whether donating to junior soccer clubs, organising several annual HeartKids SA Fundraiser Balls, or hosting community events to uplift vulnerable communities, Ada gave tirelessly of herself. Her spirit and unwavering commitment to others will be deeply missed.

She will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of fun, and her unwavering commitment to her family and community. Ada’s life was a shining example of love in action, and her memory will remain an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Parkinson’s SA in Ada’s honour, reflecting her dedication to helping others.

Rest peacefully, Ada. Your legacy of love, compassion, and service will forever endure.
