Funeral Notice

A State Funeral to honour the life and achievements of the late Mr Angas Hughes, a World War II Bomber Command veteran and prisoner of war will take place at 2.00pm on Friday 14 August 2026 at the Torrens Parade Ground Drill Hall, Adelaide.

If you wish to attend the State Funeral, please register your attendance via www.dpc.sa.gov.au/MrAngasHughes.

For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed free via the Department of the Premier and Cabinet and Alfred James websites as well as on the SA Government Facebook. (The link will be available here prior to the service.)

In lieu of flowers, the family has kindly requested consideration for people and organisations wishing to honour Mr Hughes, to donate to Legacy. Donation envelopes will also be available on the day for those who wish to contribute.

Passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24.
Aged 102 years.

Dearly loved Husband of Elaine (deceased).

Devoted Father and Father-in-Law to
Sharyn and John, and Walter and Anita.

Treasured and doting Pa to John, Annette, Angas,
Erin and Mallory.

Adoring Great-Pa and Grangas of Daniel, Josh, Emily,
Owen, Jack, Sam, Edward, William, Hamish and Miller.

Loving Great-Great Grandpa to Leo and Ava.

The family sincerely thank the staff of the War Veterans Home
at Myrtle Bank for the wonderful care and support of Angas.

We will never forget the sacrifices you made, the guidance you gave
and the love you shared with us all.
