Alfred James Funeral Directors were the first in South Australia to introduce bereavement education. In the early 1980s our funeral directors identified a need in the community for information on how to cope with death and bereavement. We developed a two-day course attended by the general public and people often dealing with death in their vocations for instance police, ambulance workers and nurses.
Over time others began delivering similar courses and by 2011 Alfred James decided to look for other ways to assist.
We now have a strong relationship with Palliative Care SA and continue to support SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Death Support Group) and the Solace Association, an organisation that provides support for those grieving the loss of their partner.
